Violaine Ulmer and Andréas Grau’s approach combines research and precise know-how, thereby questioning the notions of artist and craftsman. They like to define themselves as explorers, where the knowledge of the hands does not exclude research through thought and vice versa. In 2017, they decided to expand their activity and share their know-how by setting up courses.

With a strong aesthetic, the work, always original, surprises by its forms, often generous, and by its material, sometimes unusual. There are no codes or restrictions: rubber can be used with cultured pearls; felt with ceramics; linen with porcelain. Each piece requires thought, experimentation with the material and the creation of tools to turn the idea into reality.

In addition to their own workshops in this former school, Violaine Ulmer and Andreas Grau open their doors to a wide range of people: novice practitioners wishing to learn about ceramic jewellery, moulding techniques or the rudiments of classical jewellery making, those who already have an artistic practice and are looking for new techniques or experimental research, and guest artists in residence.
